Dear Voter,
My name is Rosemary Christian, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Genesee County Legislature 7th District. I am a lifelong resident of Genesee County, being educated at Genesee Community College, as well as being in business in the county for 23 years. I have raised four daughters here, and have served the community on the Neighborhood Improvement Committee, the Batavia Housing Authority, as well as a volunteer at UMMC and the local VA. I have also served on the Batavia City Council for the past 18 years, representing the Sixth Ward.
In my time as a councilwoman, I have served for one reason: the people. In a time where we face many difficulties with a struggling economy, a main street scattered with empty storefronts, and a government that has failed to adapt, we need to work together to do what's best for our community. First, we must continue to lower operating cost and expenses, in order to stabilize the County Budget and lower taxes. We also must find a way to create jobs for our youth so they can stay and live in Batavia and Genesee County.
In short, our current system must change. One party systems do not serve the people, they serve party leaders. We need a two party system to be able to introduce new ideas. Good ideas are not Republican or Democrat ideas, they are ideas which help our citizens and taxpayers. We all need to recognize these as facts.
When elected, I will be a full time Legislator. I have the time to devote all my hours to fighting for change. I will fight to safeguard the interests of our district. I will I will make sure there is oversight over the decisions we make in government. I believe in transparency in the process of how the local governments do business, and will work to keep you informed and to improve government.
Genesee County is a great place to live. With your support, we can work to make it an even better place.
Sincerely yours,
Rosemary Christian
